Letter to my Fellow Garmentos

I thank everyone who has taken the time to write messages saying good things about my articles.  Praise is always welcome.

However, I would like you to go further, to make a greater effort.

I started this blog because I wanted a vehicle to offer information and assistance to people in my industry.

I am a garment industry consultant.  Over the years my client base has moved towards large factory groups, major brand importers and retailers.  More recently as governments and international institutions have  begun to recognize the global garment exporting industry to be the first stage of economic development, my client base has extended to include the big institutions such as the UN, WTO, World Bank, InterAmercian Development bank as well as governments in Asia and Latin America.

This is important work and I am proud of the role I am able to play.

However, this is very long way from my roots. I started my career as a patternmaker.  Sometime later, After moving to Asia, I became a factory manager and finally had a career putting up garment factories both in Asia and Latin America.   I no longer make pattern, nor even deal with usual factory problems.  I have become a strategic development specialist.

This blog is an opportunity for me to return to my roots by providing assistance, information and ideas to the more normal people in my industry.

It is a freebie, from me to you.  I cannot help you with design or marketing. Other than that, I want to help where I can
